EveryScape Eats! gives 3D interior views of local restaurants

June 07, 2010 --

WALTHAM, Mass., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- At Tech Ed North America 2010, EveryScape, creator of visual guides for local search, announced the availability of an application that provides a new way to experience Boston restaurants using Microsoft Corp.'s Bing Maps. The EveryScape Eats! application was developed using the Bing Map App SDK, which combines the power of Microsoft Silverlight and Bing Maps to create an immersive mapping experience.

The EveryScape Eats! map app is being launched initially in Boston with other major cities becoming available later this year. Users can view the interiors of more than 500 Boston restaurants and explore exteriors for more than 1,300 in 3D. Interior panoramic imagery allows users to "walk around" as though they were there in person. Features include:

  • Visual search for restaurants: Immediate visual impressions of more than 1,300 Boston area restaurants provide an idea of ambiance and neighborhood
  • Plan a night out: Select a restaurant and then share it with friends
  • Read reviews, menus and restaurant information: Panoramic images are augmented by the restaurant details section so diners can make an educated dining decision

"At EveryScape we strive to provide engaging real world experiences of places that interest our users, allowing them to better choose a restaurant or business that fits their unique taste or situation, and this new map app developed through a strategic relationship with Microsoft further validates that strategy," said Mok Oh, founder of EveryScape. "The Bing Map App SDK allowed us to integrate our content and get our application up and running in just two weeks, bringing the power of Bing location search to EveryScape's visual guides."

The new Bing Map App SDK enables developers to create map apps built on top of Bing Maps. With the SDK, Microsoft is helping developers take mapping beyond point-to-point directions by creating map apps that allow people to interact with maps in new and interesting ways and complete tasks faster.

"Bing Maps already allows users to see the world from air or land with satellite, aerial, birds-eye and street-side views," said Chris Pendleton, technical evangelist for Bing Maps at Microsoft. "We are thrilled to work with EveryScape to deliver a map app that brings users inside for a truly immersive experience."

EveryScape helps businesses and organizations build engaging, immersive relationships with consumers through 3D, photo-realistic experiences of cities and towns, streets and sidewalks, and building exteriors and interiors. EveryScape's patented technology platform allows anyone with a browser to experience a first-person, eye-level walk down a "scaped" street, gather and share information on businesses and attractions, and virtually enter a store, shop or restaurant.
