PRLog (Press Release)Feb 11, 2011 – Long Beach, CA, -- February 11, 2011 -- The first edition of the Metropolitan Wine Tasting (MWT) Guide Map for Los Angeles and Orange County is now in print and online at www.metropolitanwinetasting.com. Local wine lovers and visitors from out of town can now conveniently locate over 100 venues that span Malibu to San Clemente.

And this weekend, for Valentine's Day many have special events to enjoy including Rosenthal – The Malibu Estate, and Magic Show and Wine Tasting and The Wine Country. Wally's in Westwood is having a big 3-day wine event starting today where they are sampling and selling 90+ rated Robert Parker wines for up to half off, and tomorrow NapaStyle at the South Coast Plaza will be pouring their own premium wines and featuring Autumn Millhouse, author of Romantic Napa Valley for book signings from 12:00 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Also included in the guide map are San Antonio Winery in Los Angeles, which has been bottling and serving wine since 1917 and The Courthouse, Malibu's Tasting Room, which will open its doors for the first time in March 2011. It's located in the old mission-style Malibu Courthouse built in 1933.

Each venue has its own unique ambiance and proprietors are ready to provide their guests with interesting and informative wine tasting adventures.

The printed guide map will be available at each wine tasting venue on the list, major corporate offices, airports, hotels, real estate offices and visitor centers.

If you're still stumped for a Valentine's Day present, here are two ideas that will fit in the palm of your -- or your beloved's -- hand. You can download them right now; no gift-wrapping required.

Chimani App for Yosemite National Park: Chimani specializes in designing apps about national parks. The Yosemite app for iPhone or Android is on sale for half-price through Monday for $4.99. It features a map of the entire park, plus GPS points and hiking trails. The app also includes a 45-minute audio tour of the California park and up-to-date ranger events and shuttle-bus schedules. If you just want a sampler, you can buy a "lite" version for 99 cents. Available at iTunes or Android Market. Check out Chimani's website for more information.

CalParks app from the California State Parks Foundation: This free app is available only for the iPhone. Designed by EveryTrail, it includes guides to more than 45 state parks and beaches, with trail information, pictures, video clips and more. I like the trail maps that label intersections, view spots and cool sites such as waterfalls along the way.  More information can be found at the foundation's Travel Center Web page.

I haven't yet used either of these apps in the field. If you beat me to it, let me know what you think in the comments section below.
