The pricing for the HTC EVO 4G has gone official and the rumors were true. The device is $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate from Sprint or just $199.99 with no rebates at RadioShack.

Brochure swap a busy couple of days - York News-Times

Posted: 20 May 2010 11:08 PM PDT

Last Wednesday was the Nebraska Association of Convention and Visitors Bureau's (NACVB, which is much easier to remember and spell) annual Brochure Swap. This is our industry's one opportunity to come together in the spring at a central location to distribute and exchange all of our local brochures. The vacation guides were there loading up on new material for all of the information centers at the rest areas along I-80. Events, attractions, Nebraska Game and Parks and most all convention and visitors bureaus were there as well trading information and publications.

It's always a busy couple of days with an almost carnival-like atmosphere as people haul their shopping carts and boxes down the aisles of freshly-printed promotional pieces, loading up on everything from postcards to maps to current guides for hunting, fishing, wineries, antiques and native Nebraska wildflowers and grasses. There were lots of hugs and handshaking and excited conversations as folks who haven't seen each other in several months try and catch up on each other's lives and happenings.

And of course no Brochure Swap would be complete without the obligatory two-meeting minimum, which works so well when we are all together in one location. We also gave regional presentations to the vacation guides Tuesday evening after our BBQ dinner. Thanks to Abbie at the Grand Island CVB for putting all of our information together in a great power point presentation for the Central Nebraska Tourism Partners.

And the best part of this whole trip? No paper towel dispenser taking on a life of its own, no exploding Jacuzzi and no pink dainties caught in my windshield wipers! It was a normal trip this time.

A new, great stop this time was the Back Alley Bakery in downtown Hastings located at 609 2nd Avenue. I had heard so many good things about this place, but never had the opportunity to stop when they were open. We made two trips Wednesday morning as they don't open until 9 a.m., but it was well worth the two trips. I had my eye on the olive bread and a six seed loaf, until I read the menu and spotted the blue cheeses bread. They had none out, and the lady said they would have them later, so I asked if I could buy one and pick it up later. She excused herself and came back with a hot loaf right out of the oven. Maybe it was the desperate look in my eye, but she could tell I was excited as my eyes rolled towards the back of my head, and I licked my lips! All three loaves made the trip home with me. Back Alley Bakery is definitely on my food favorite list.

Business After Hours is scheduled for tonight, May 21 at the York Holiday Inn & Conference Center starting at 5 p.m. Stop out to see all the changes and updates to the York property. Now's a perfect time to check all of that out, while enjoying some very, very tasty refreshments.

Art Thingy will take place this Saturday, May 22, at Kilgore Library from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The event celebrates many of the various expressions of art, and a great time to see area artists producing their art. There will be lots of inter-active, hands-on events and demonstrations taking place during the four hours. Bring the kids and grandkids down for a fun day of play and learning . . . and the truth be told, I think the adults have as much fun as the kids do! Admission is free.

Because of scheduling conflicts, the previously-mentioned, special fundraiser Yorkshire Playhouse production, "An Almost Unholy Picture," has been cancelled. We apologize for any inconvenience.
