SAP Delivers on Road Map to Build On-Demand Ecosystem, Signs on First Solution Resellers for SAP ... - MSN Money

Posted: 30 Nov 2010 05:53 AM PST

WALLDORF, Germany, Nov. 30, 2010/PRNewswire/ -- SAP AG SAP today announced the first solution resellers for the SAP® Business ByDesign™ solution, delivering on its strategy to create a vibrant ecosystem around the completely integrated on-demand suite for small and midsize enterprises (SMEs). In addition to fully owning customer relationships, reselling partners expand the reach and scope of the software by selling and positioning the on-demand solution as well as deploying the services. With initial partners signed on in France, Germany and the United States, SAP plans to extend the solution reseller program to further countries including the United Kingdom, China and India over the course of the coming months.

With a strong partner ecosystem of more than 10,000 companies with proven expertise in delivering, enhancing and deploying solutions from its established SME product portfolio, SAP is extending its market-leading ecosystem model to SAP Business ByDesign. Partners are crucial to the success of the on-demand solution, as they market, sell and deploy the solution as well as offer additional services, such as business consulting, business process services or management services, among others. In return, rather than focus on maintaining infrastructure, SAP Business ByDesign solution resellers can focus resources on shortening innovation cycles and accelerating time-to-market.

Customers particularly benefit from partners' domain and industry-specific expertise. SAP Business ByDesign enables them to implement their individual growth strategies, manage their companies flexibly and respond quickly to changing market conditions.

"Delivering on our value proposition and business model for SAP Business ByDesign solution resellers, we are committed to empowering our partners with the opportunities and tools they need to ultimately ensure customer success," said Pat Hume, senior vice president, Global SME Indirect Channel, SAP. "Customers want three things: faster time to value, ease of deployment and flexible purchasing options. With SAP Business ByDesign and our partner-centric approach to delivering the solution, we are delivering on these expectations."

Based on its world-class partner program, SAP is pursuing a step-by-step ramp-up of reseller activities by closely collaborating with both new partners as well as partners out of the existing ecosystem that have already accompanied projects with customers of SAP Business ByDesign. A continuous flow of partner feedback will serve to improve and evolve the program. To support solution resellers, SAP is providing an onboarding guide, organizational set-up support, an e-learning platform with role-based curricula, access to go-live-experience workshops and self-enablement systems, and a central knowledge repository on the SAP® Business ByDesign™ Business Center site.

"SAP's commitment to effectively collaborate with its channel partners gives us all the tools and resources we need to successfully approach a whole new audience of customers to market, sell and deploy SAP Business ByDesign," said Alex Rooney, vice president, Vision33.  "Based on our proven success and track record with SAP Business One, we are confident that we will also realize and sustain business success as a SAP Business ByDesign solution reseller."

Obama, GOP leaders to work on map for days ahead - Washington Post

Posted: 30 Nov 2010 03:44 AM PST

"The million-dollar divide creates a very bright line and makes it very clear: You're either supporting multimillionaires and billionaires or you're supporting the middle class," said Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.).

Republicans said they would look for signals that the president has digested his party's landslide losses on Nov. 2 and is willing to change his approach to passing legislation.

Michael Steel, spokesman for House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio), said the incoming speaker would urge Obama to support a permanent extension of the expiring tax cuts, along with immediate cuts in federal spending, starting with pending legislation that Congress must approve by the end of the year to keep the government operating. House GOP leaders advocate reductions to fiscal 2008 levels, a move that would force agencies to make deep budget cuts immediately.

"We hope the president is listening to the American people and is willing to work with us on their priorities," said Steel.

Also up for discussion was the increasingly contentious U.S.-Russia New START treaty. The president has said that ratifying the nuclear arms reduction pact - which requires 67 votes in the Senate - is a top priority. But one of the participants at Tuesday's meeting was Sen. Jon Kyl (Ariz.), the No. 2 Senate Republican and Obama's chief adversary on the matter. Kyl was expected to insist that the Senate delay a vote on the treaty until January, when the new Congress is sworn in.
